Are you coming to Florence with your four-legged friend and do you need some useful information to make your visit easier? Read below…

Dog’s owners have to follow general rules, for example, others’ health and safety, and collect dog’s excrements, otherwise they will get fined.

Remember that dogs must be on a leash and wear a muzzle. You are allowed to take your pet on a public transport, including ATAF buses. If you will be using taxi services, you have to inform the company that you are travelling with a pet. In some cases, they might refuse to pick you up.

If you are searching for a place to stay you can give a look at our website ('where to sleep' > pets welcome) or at Toscana Pet Friendly website and check hotel regulations.

It is worth mentioning that Florence city has designated dogs parks, which are fenced and majority of them have running water spots. The easiest way to find those green areas is to go on a website called Verde on Web.

Unfortunately, now, pets are not allowed in any museums or churches (even small-sized ones). If you need a professional pet-sitter, there are plenty of companies and individuals offering their services, please, try to find the most suitable person on-line. You can start browsing on Tuscan Hound, Petme Firenze o a Bau - Circolo delle Coccole.

The Botanical Garden, very central, and the Parco Mediceo di Pratolino, about 10 km from the city, can instead be visited with pets on a leash.

In case of emergency there are veterinaries which are open 24 hours; if you have lost your pet, you can contact animals shelter house dialing : +39 055 3283333 (Polizia Municipale).

We wish you pleasant and safe stay in Florence with your pet!
