Arriving by plane
Florence Amerigo Vespucci Airport – located in Peretola – is an international airport, yet it is only five kilometres from the city centre, to which it is conveniently connected via tram line T2..
Inside the airport, arrivals side, you will find our tourist infopoint for an initial orientation.
Connections to the city and tickets
The connection to the city centre is provided by the T2 line, ‘Peretola Airport – San Marco University’. The journey to the city centre takes 20 minutes, with services running every 5 minutes.
Buying tickets is easy: at the terminus, located on the left as you exit the airport, there is a ticket machine that accepts coins or credit cards. The paper ticket must be validated on board. Tobacconists (at the airport and in town) also sell paper tickets.
It is, however, very convenient to use the on-board credit card reader. Each person may only swipe their own card. The standard fare is €1.70 and is valid for 90 minutes.
Further information here – section by bus and tramway.
The procedure is the same if you want to get to the airport from the city centre or the SMN station.
By taxi
As for taxis, it is worth noting that there is a fixed fare of €28 from the airport to the historic centre, excluding luggage, night-time and public holiday surcharges.
By car
The city’s main car hire companies are also located near the airport. For an overview of this service, please see the dedicated page.
If you wish to park your car, there are two car parks opposite the main building: one for short-term parking and one for long-term parking. See the page for real-time updates.
