Campsites in Florence

If you want to camp, in the true sense of the word, in Florence there is a campsite with a dedicated area for camper vans. It’s the Camping Firenze (via Generale Dalla Chiesa 1/3), a huge structure, with many services, along the river Arno in the south-eastern area of the city : You can easily reach it from the Firenze Sud motorway exit. Each pitch for camper van is equipped with water connection, electricity and wifi.
This campsite is connected to the city center in several ways: by the campsite's shuttle bus service (for a fee), by a convenient cycle-pedestrian path along the Arno (about 4 km from the historic center) and by public transport, AT line 14 A, direction Il Girone / Stazione SMN.

Campsites around Florence

In the surroundings of Florence there are two other campsites with special areas for camper vans:
the Camping Panoramico of Fiesole, on the hills north of Florence, can be reached from the center of Fiesole through a road, sometimes a bit narrow, about 2 km long; the public AT bus nr. 7 "Fiesole-Firenze" is very frequent, but the stop/terminus is only in the central Piazza Mino.

In the municipality of Impruneta, you will find the Firenze Certosa International Campsite; we are located in Bottai, near the Certosa di Firenze. There is a public bus service (line 37) running towards Piazza Stazione SMN / Tavarnuzze.

A short drive from the city, in the Mugello area near the Futa Pass, lies Camping Il Sergente: we are in the municipality of Barberino di Mugello.
 

Car parks

It may be useful to know that  in some car parks of the city, there are equipped areas with essential services for camper vans, such as water and waste. Just pay attention! In those places it is forbidden to camp.
Here they are: Gelsomino car park (via del Gelsomino 11) and Il Poggetto-Flog.

Motorhome stopovers
 

Finally, in other Municipalities, not too far from Florence, there are some "Aree di sosta" or motorhome stopovers. (Find a list here)
In addition to essential services such as loading / unloading water, etc., they offer a range of services, starting from the minimum ones such as toilets and showers.

Bilancino  practically on the lakeside in Andolaccio, in the municipality of Barberino di Mugello;  and, also in Mugello, Vecchio Ponte in Vicchio.
