Florentine Summer 2026
The Florentine Summer is back in style, the rich season 2026 of events for all tastes (over 100 projects and numerous festivals), throughout the city for four months, from June to September.
The festivals & the events
As for festivals, the season kicks off on June 4 with Sagrati in Musica (a series of concerts held in the churchyards of various churches) and continues on June 9 with Secret Florence (art, dance, and music in lesser-known parts of the city). The Florence Dance Performing Arts Festival will enliven the Chiostro Grande of Santa Maria Novella starting June 23. From mid-June to mid-July, Apriti Cinema returns, the film festival in Piazza Pitt. The Festival au Désert (ethnic music from the Mediterranean, the Middle East, and North Africa) will be at the Parco delle Cascine starting July 3. Genius Loci will bring the monumental complex of Santa Croce to life through various disciplines (September 24–26), while the Oltrarno will resonate with the sounds of the Florence Jazz Festival in the first half of September. Corpo Celeste, presented by Virgilio Sieni’s dance company at various locations throughout the city. The program for Pulse 2026 at Lumen, the large green space in District 2, is particularly rich.
Among the others, new events...
Among the major new events, we highlight Crossover '80, dedicated to the Florentine new wave music scene of the 1980s (starting July 2, various locations), and Costruiamo la pace (Let's build the peace) a two-day event (July 11 and 12, Anfiteatro delle Cascine and Teatro Niccolini) featuring Noa and Gil Dor, accompanied by multicultural and multiethnic ensembles. For electronic music lovers, don’t miss the Lattexplux Festival on September 12 at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale’s outdoor amphitheater. Finally, Open Air Circus (a festival dedicated to contemporary circus) will take the stage at the Cascine Park from September 5 to 13.
The summer venues
The evenings of the Florentine Summer are also enlivened by 11 summer venues: Giardino dell’Orticoltura, Le Murate Caffè Letterario, Parco dell’Anconella - Anconella Garden, Piazza Tasso - Circolo Aurora, Parco della Tinaia - Ultravox, Giardino delle Rose, Giardino Niccolò Galli - Light, Piazza dei Tre Re, Piazza Edison, Giardino San Lorenzo a Greve, and the former Piazzale Michelangelo campground.
