Cenacolo di San Salvi, Andrea del Sarto

Last Suppers & music

They are truly unique treasures of artistic heritage, not only in Florence but throughout Italy! We are talking about the Florence's Cenacoli ("Last Suppers in the Cenacles"). Scattered mainly throughout the historic centre, these places of extraordinary beauty (decorated with frescoes by great artists such as Perugino, Andrea del Sarto, Ghirlandaio and Andrea del Castagno) will come to life from 12 April to 21 June thanks to a series of concerts organised by the ORT, the Regional Orchestra of Tuscany, and its various ensembles.

This will be an unmissable opportunity to discover (or rediscover) them, accompanied by the notes of an intense concert series comprising six events:

The concert calendar

 - 12 April – Cenacolo di San Marco, string ensemble, music by Wagner and Sgambati
 -  19 April – Cenacolo di Sant’Apollonia, string quartet, music by Cherubini
 -  10 May – Cenacolo di Fuligno, Sextet, music by Mozart and Beethoven

Admission to the concerts is included in the entry ticket for the individual museums. For further information, including timings, please consult the event-link.

The so-called Cenacoli are convent halls where religious communities used to take their meals, sharing them in spirit with Christ and his Apostles, as depicted in The Last Supper.
