The Forte di Belvedere reopens for summer 2026 with an extensive cultural program, reaffirming its role as one of the flagship venues of the Estate Fiorentina festival. Managed by the Fondazione MUS.E, the Medici-era fortress once again hosts major contemporary art exhibitions, concerts, talks, and cultural activities.

At the heart of the program is “Drama: Four Acts”, an exhibition project curated by Sergio Risaliti that unfolds throughout the summer through a series of exhibitions and installations exploring themes of conflict, memory, transformation, and the relationship between past and present. The initiative aims to create a dialogue between different artistic languages while offering visitors opportunities to reflect on some of the most pressing issues of our time.

Full Program

24 June 2026
Opening of “God Year”, a solo exhibition by Paolo Canevari exploring themes of conflict, contemporary crises, and social transformation. On the same day, the sound installation “La morte di Orfeo” (The Death of Orpheus) by Friedrich Andreoni debuts, inspired by the famous classical myth of Orpheus.

From 16 July 2026
Opening of “No Heroes”, an exhibition dedicated to Marino Marini. Marini’s sculptures enter into dialogue with the works of Paolo Canevari, creating a compelling comparison between twentieth-century art and contemporary artistic languages.

From September 2026
The third chapter of the project is “Oscuro Abbagliante” by Per Barclay, an immersive installation that transforms the spaces of the Forte through reflections, light, and materiality, establishing a new dialogue with the works of Marino Marini.

Alongside the exhibitions, the Forte hosts “Forte in Musica”, a summer series of live concerts and performances, and “L’attualità del bello”, a program of talks and discussions exploring contemporary culture and current issues.
