Giotto in Santa Croce - Restoration of the Bardi Chapel
Special Openings, tours and workshops
From April to June 2026, it is possible to take part in special visits to the restoration site of the Bardi Chapel, decorated by Giotto in the early 14th century with the Stories of Saint Francis. This is a rare opportunity to closely admire one of the masterpieces of Italian art, appreciating its technical details and expressive realism, as well as gaining insight into the work of the restorers. The project, entrusted to the Opificio delle Pietre Dure and supported by institutions and donors, is now in its final phase after more than three years of work.
Access takes place via scaffolding up to 11 meters high and requires compliance with safety regulations: helmets are mandatory, closed shoes must be worn, and bags and phone use are not permitted. Minors aged 12 and over may participate if accompanied by an adult.
