On August 30, at the Auditorium of Santa Maria Vergine della Croce al Tempio in Florence, the ensemble Le Armoniche Stravaganze, together with countertenor Vincenzo Franchini and Francesco Scarcella on organ and harpsichord, presents a captivating journey into the heart of Baroque musical theatre.
The programme invites audiences to discover some of the most powerful arias of war, love and sorrow that made the heroes and heroines of Georg Friedrich Händel’s operas famous throughout Europe.
The musical journey focuses in particular on two of the composer’s masterpieces, Rinaldo and Giulio Cesare in Egitto (Julius Caesar in Egypt), alternating celebrated vocal pieces with refined instrumental works that showcase the elegance, expressive richness and virtuosity of Baroque music.
