Humanitas - La Forza dell'Amore|The Power of Love

From 10 May to 8 August 2025, the Basilica di San Lorenzo complex will host the exhibition Humanitas - La Forza dell'Amore (Humanitas - The Power of Love), which presents Andrea Roggi's monumental bronze sculptures and establishes a connection with the history and spatial setting of the site.

The Tree of Life, a favorite subjecto for the Tuscan artist, is represented in his works through the union of matter and spirit: his human figures, embracing each other in a synthesis of strength and tenderness, look like tree trunks and their arms, turned towards the sky, become olive branches, while the roots, inserted into the globe, represent the deep and essential bond with nature. Thanks to the dynamic fusion technique, invented and patented by the artist himself, these works of art defy the laws of physics, creating incredible balances that establish a unique relationship with the environments in which they are placed.

Humanitas | La Forza dell'Amore, tells about Andrea Roggi's long career, starting from the first anthropomorphic bronze statue, Atman, created by the Tuscan artist in the 1980s and placed in the small cloister of the basilica, up to the most recent Energia della Conoscenza (Energy of Knowledge), conceived specifically for this exhibition.
