On Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 July 2026, Cerreto Guidiwill recreate the atmosphere of the 16th century and bring Isabella de’ Medici’s great passions – music and the arts – to the streets. The historic centre will be transported back in time to July 1576, in a festive atmosphere marking the arrival of Isabella, Cosimo I’s favourite daughter, as she journeys to join her husband at the Medici villa. For two days, a succession of period performances of all kinds will take place, until the news breaks of Isabella’s mysterious death, which occurred in Cerreto on 16 July 1576.
Within the walls of the 16th-century village, nobles and commoners, medieval knights and scenes of everyday life will come to life, alongside historical games, traditional crafts, Renaissance music and dance, falconers, sword and crossbow displays, and fire and flag-waving performances.
