Jean-Marie Appriou. CANTO INFINITO (INFINITE SONG)
Exhibitions
From 22 May 2026 to 23 August 2026, the Project Space at Palazzo Strozzi will host Jean-Marie Appriou’s exhibition “Canto Infinito”, showcasing one of the most original voices in the redefinition of the concept of sculpture in contemporary art.
Jean-Marie Appriou is known for his experimental approach to the use of materials such as aluminium, bronze, glass, clay and wax. His sculptures, all large in scale, depict figures that occupy an ambiguous space between the human, the animal and the plant, drawing on the iconographic heritage of mythology, science fiction and contemporary culture: horses, snakes, sea creatures and hybrid beings populate a symbolic universe, in which forms seem suspended between earth and water, darkness and light, permanence and change.
