Les pêcheurs de perles at the Maggio Fiorentino Theatre

From September 16th to 23rd, 2025, Les pêcheurs de perles will be performed at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino. This three-act opera, from a libretto by Michel Carré and Eugène Cormon, was composed by Georges Bizet in 1863.
Set on the island of Ceylon, the opera tells a love story centered around a classic triangle: Léïla, a priestess of Brahma, is loved by both Nadir, a pearl diver, and Zurga, the leader of the fishermen and a longtime friend of Nadir. However, Léïla loves Nadir, and Zurga is ultimately forced to sacrifice his feelings, giving up both the woman he loves and his friend.
