The exhibition dedicated to Marie de' Medici, the Florentine who by marrying Henry of Bourbon inaugurated France's golden century, that of Cardinal Richielieu and the Sun King. Among other things, this exhibition features a previously unseen work from the Rubens workshop and a scale reconstruction of the theatre that housed the first opera in history: the Eurydice. It really is a great way to celebrate the 450th anniversary of the Medici who had the Sun King as her grandson.
This exhibition, curated by Samuele Lastrucci, aims to highlight the pivotal role of Maria de' Medici, a Florentine who became Queen of France and mother to Louis XIII and grandmother to the Sun King, in shaping the early years of the Grand Siècle. The exhibition features various aspects of her life and influence, including her artistic patronage and connection to figures like Peter Paul Rubens.
