On Saturday, September 5, 2026, the spotlight will be on the 57th edition of the Palio del Cerro. Held in Cerreto Guidi since 1969 in honor of Saint Liberata—and historically rooted in the second half of the 16th century—the event takes place in the square facing the Medici Villa.
The *Contrade* (districts)—Porta Caracosta, Porta Fiorentina, Porta al Palagio, and Porta Santa Maria al Pozzolo—compete for the "Cencio" (the prize banner) in various contests: the Crossbow, *Troppoli* (a type of wooden block), *Bigoncia*, Rings, Tug-of-War, and the ring toss (the latter being reserved for women).
