Paper/Cosmic Breeze by Gianni Pettena

Exhibitions

Paper/Cosmic Breeze’, which can be viewed at the Manifattura Tabacchi in Florence, is an installation by the architect and artist Gianni Pettena. An architect who played a key role in contemporary experimentation in architecture and design, Pettena created this installation in 1971 in the United States.

It has been recreated in Pavilion Building B3, one of the buildings that still bear witness to the site’s industrial past, and where this ephemeral and ever-changing installation – consisting of long strips of paper suspended from the ceiling that completely fill the space – is located.
This is not a static work, but one in a state of transformation: the public are invited to carve out their own path through the space using scissors.
A forest of paper and light, through which visitors can make their way, taking on an active role as spectators who do not merely observe, but become an integral part of the creative process.

Open with free entrance from June 11 to September 16
