Victor Man at Museo Novecento

Exhibitions

From September 26, 2026 to March 7, 2027, Museo Novecento will host an exhibition dedicated to Victor Man, presented in the ground-floor rooms of the former Ex Leopoldine complex in Piazza Santa Maria Novella.

Regarded as one of Europe’s leading contemporary painters, Man is a prominent figure of the renowned Cluj School, known for works sought after by major museums around the world. The exhibition features a selection of around 25 paintings exploring universal themes such as motherhood, self-portraiture and the female figure. It is a must-see opportunity to discover how the great tradition of old master painting can engage with the sensibilities and concerns of our time.

The exhibition is promoted by the Municipality of Florence and produced with the support of Galerie Max Hetzler and David Zwirner Gallery.

Victor Man at Museo Novecento

Exhibitions

Curated by Sergio Risaliti, the exhibition brings together around 25 paintings exploring key themes such as portraiture, self-portraiture and still life. With a palette dominated by deep blues and blacks, deeply rooted in the tradition of chiaroscuro, the works create visual enigmas that invite different interpretations, taking visitors on a journey through existential solitude and the ambiguity of human identity.
