The Florence Biennale 2025, the 15th edition of the international contemporary art and design exhibition, will be held at the Fortezza da Basso in Florence from October 18 to 26, 2025. The theme will be “The Sublime Essence of Light and Darkness” (i.e., the sublime essence of light and darkness: concepts of dualism and unity in contemporary art and design), which explores the dualism of light/darkness not only as a visual or aesthetic phenomenon, but as a concept that crosses philosophy, science, and literature, and questions the human condition, perception, harmony, and contrast. Over 550 artists and designers from 85 countries will participate, with more than 1,500 works on display. Guests of honor will include Tim Burton, who will receive the “Lorenzo il Magnifico” lifetime achievement award, and designer Patricia Urquiola, who will receive the “Leonardo da Vinci Award.” The event is one of the most important contemporary art events in Italy and worldwide.
The XV edition of Florence Biennale will be held at the Fortezza da Basso in Florence from 18 to 26 October 2025 and will involve exhibitors (artists, designers and companies) and visitors in an event rich in international guests, many educational initiatives and workshops, that will embrace different aspects related to art and design.
