From March 1 to June 9, 2024 Liebe, Glaube und Hoffnung , the new exhibition at the Museo Novecento curated by Sergio Risaliti, dedicated to German artist André Butzer. Also by the same artist is the section "und der Tod ist auch ein Leben" at Museo Stefano Bardini from March 22 to June 9, 2024.
The exhibition explores the entire artistic history of André Butzer, which originated from the union of European expressionism and American popular culture up to the most recent phases.
The exhibition brings together around 25 works that testify to the entire career of the artist, who in addition to drawing and painting also devoted himself to poetry.
The selection of works highlights the recurrence of certain recurring topics, such as the dualisms life-death, hope-despair, truth-falsehood, and is also enriched by some completely new site-specific works.
The second part of the project will arrive on 22 March 2024 at the Museo Stefano Bardini with ...und der Tod ist auch ein Leben, a title inspired by the poem In lieblicher Bläue (1808) by Friedrich Hölderlin, one of the artist's favourites.
The exhibition is based on a group of works created by the artist following a visit to the Bardini Museum. The series of 22 paintings from 2022 features the dialogue between the artist and the Museo Stefano Bardini starting with the room known as the Room of the madonnas that Butzer re-invented.
