Museo e Galleria Mozzi Bardini

Gallery of Palazzo Mozzi Bardini

Points of interest
Museums

The museum is housed in a medieval house once owned by the rich and powerful Mozzi family, merchants and papal treasurers for several generations.

Because of a series of financial misadventures, they lost it, and the palace passed then from owner to owner over the years, being strongly renewed. Finally, in 1913, the antiquarian and collector Stefano Bardini purchased the palace, turning it into a storehouse for around 30.000 works of art (terracotta works, stuccoes, crests, furniture, weapons, paintings…).

When the last Bardini died, for a long time the palace was left in a state of disrepair, until 1997, when the State acquired the property and renovation works began.
