The British Institute of Florence is a cultural institute founded in Florence in 1917 with the aim of promoting Anglo-Italian cultural relations through the teaching of English, Italian and art history.
The Institute has one of the largest English-language lending libraries in Europe, located on the Lungarno in Florence. The volumes cover Italian and English literature, art, history and music.
Cultural courses and meetings are held at the Library, while English language courses for Italian learners are held at another location (Viale Mazzini).
