Museo dell'Opera di Santa Croce

The Museo dell'Opera di Santa Croce is built around the two cloisters at the side of the famous Franciscan Basilica.

The evocative rooms include first and foremost the Pazzi Chapel, a Renaissance masterpiece by Filippo Brunelleschi, and the 14th-century Refectory. The latter, decorated with a large fresco (Last Supper and Tree of Life) by Giotto's most famous pupil, Taddeo Gaddi, contains numerous works of art, including Donatello's St Ludwig of Toulouse (originally in Orsanmichele).
Other rooms contain detached frescoes and sculptures from the 14th and 15th centuries from the Santa Croce complex.

Cimabue's crucifix, severely damaged by the 1966 flood - and already kept in this museum - has been transferred to the Sacristy of the Basilica.
