Museo di Storia Naturale dell'Università di Firenze - Botany

Points of interest
Museums

The Botany Section has the most important herbarium in Italy, with about four million specimens. It contains historic collections of dried plants, including one of the oldest (1563) still existing today.

The series of 17th-century still life paintings by the Medici painter Bartolomeo Bimbi, along with the collection of life-sized wax reproductions of plants and fruits created in the late 18th century, which were once housed at this location, are now displayed at 'La Specola.'

These collections are open to the public for research purposes only. But, on the official Website, a virtual space for immersive visits of the museum is now available!
