Museum of Historic Models

This is a unique museum housed in Calenzano Castle.

What makes the museum so interesting and distinctive is its ability to explain and illustrate history in an engaging way through model-making, which is distinct from toy-making: for this reason, its name has, over time, been changed from the ‘Museum of Toy Soldiers’ to the ‘Museum of Historical Models’.

The models on display depict a wide range of historical periods, and a chronological educational trail guides visitors from the Phoenician era right through to the end of the Second World War.

The exhibition unfolds across two rooms on the ground floor; the figurines and dioramas in the collection are displayed in around fifty display cases.
