Parco di Sorgane

A new urban park has been created in the neighbourhood of Sorgane, a few kilometres from the centre of Florence, on a previously derelict site.
The Municipality of Bagno a Ripoli has carried out restoration and enhancement work, incorporating nature-friendly features – such as wooden walkways – which create paths winding through the park.

A park rich in elms, field maples, oaks and numerous springs typical of the Sorgane hillside. The designers worked to preserve the native flora, clearing away weeds and carrying out light forestry work, in line with a ‘landscape restoration’ approach that respects the area’s historical heritage.

Two new eco-friendly buildings are set to open soon, designed to house a café and the activities of environmental organisations.
