The parish church of San Pietro a Cascia (Reggello) overlooks the picturesque square along what was once the Cassia Vetus consular road.
Its present Romanesque appearance dates back to the late 12th and early 13th centuries, whilst the external portico is a Renaissance addition.
Inside, the three naves are divided by pilasters and columns, whose Corinthian capitals are carved with figures of men and animals bearing symbolic meanings.
The apse houses the wooden crucifix known as the ‘Casellina’ (1330–40), whilst on the left-hand wall hangs a detached fresco depicting the Annunciation by Mariotto di Cristofano (c. 1422).
