Described as "fortress of Carlo degli Strozzi" in a list from 1409, the Rocca Strozzi was built a few years earlier right in the centre of the Florence plain by Ubertino di Rossello Strozzi.
A defence building to protect the walls, it has retained its appearance and today 'guards' a bridge over the Bisenzio river, as well as becoming the symbol of the city of Campi Bisenzio. It is a brick construction, with a quadrangular base and a corner tower. Inside it houses the Archeological Museum of Gonfienti.
