Calcio storico, Historical football. The final match

On Saturday, June 13, and Sunday, June 14, 2026, the semifinals of Calcio Storico Fiorentino (Florence’s best-known folk tradition) took place. Following the results of these two matches, the Azzurri (Santa Croce district) will face off against the Rossi (Santa Maria Novella district) in the final on June 24, during the  celebrations for St. John the Baptist , the patron saint of Florence.

The match in Piazza Santa Croce (starting at 6:00 p.m.) will be preceded by impressive and spectacular historical parades winding through the streets of the city center.

On Wednesday the 17th at 5:00 p.m., the “Vecchie Glorie” exhibition match will take place at the Santa Croce sandpit. The non-competitive match of the "former stars" will be preceded by a performance by the Uffizi Flag Throwers. Admission is by donation, with proceeds going to a charity.
