The 32nd Edition of the Trofeo Marzocco, a traditional competition between flag-throwers from all over Italy, is back to Piazza della Signoria on Wednesday, May 1st, 2025.
Each year, the event brings us back to the atmosphere of chivalric contests, featuring historic flag-throwing who compete in a spectacular show, accompanied by the performance of the “Musici,” whose music adds depth to the graceful choreography of the flags. Before the competition, the teams are escorted into the square by the Historical Parade of the Florentine Republic, following a route through the city streets. The flag-throwers march preceded by their captain, the group’s banner, and drummers.
The event is open to the public and free of charge.
The "Bandierai degli Uffizi – Official Flag-Throwers of Florence" are an integral part of the Historical Parade of the Florentine Republic and of the Calcio Storico Fiorentino, Florence’s traditional historic football game.
