On the anniversary of the laying of the cornerstone of Florence Cathedral on September 8, 1296, the Opera di Santa Maria del Fiore is pleased to share a special day of celebration:the Opera del Duomo Museum will be open free of charge, without need of reservations or tickets, from 8:30 AM until midnight (last admission at 11:00 PM), offering everyone the opportunity to discover the works and masterpieces from the monumental complex of Piazza Duomo.
For 729 years, the Opera di Santa Maria del Fiore has preserved, protected, and passed down a unique artistic, cultural, and spiritual heritage. A centuries-long history that continues to live on every day, thanks to its profound connection to the city of Florence and its service to future generations.
