Paolo Uccello, a distinguished guest from the San Marco Museum
Exhibitions
One painting leaves, another arrives. While Masaccio's prestigious Triptych of San Giovenale has made its way to the Museum of San Marco in Florence for the Beato Angelico exhibition, the Regional Directorate of National Museums of Tuscany of the Ministry of Culture - Museo di San Marco has organised a small but valuable exhibition at the Pieve di Cascia in Reggello, focusing on two masterpieces by Paolo Uccello (1397-1475), one of the leading figures of the Florentine Renaissance.
At the Museo Masaccio the two masterpieces thus fill the void left by the loan.
These are the detached fresco depicting the Madonna and Child from the Beccuto house and the Predella di Avane depicting Christ in Pietà between the Virgin Mary and St John the Evangelist, both of which have strong ties to the Valdarno area.
