European Heritage Days

The European Heritage Days (GEP 2026) are back this coming weekend. It is an important initiative that also allows visitors to explore a number of museums on the evening of Saturday, September 26, for the symbolic price of 1 Euro (at other times, the usual admission fee will apply). To mark the occasion, guided tours and other activities will be held at various cultural sites, including those in the surrounding areas, on both September 26 and 27.

On Saturday, September 26, the state museums that will be open for special evening hours are: the Academy Gallery, the Uffizi, the Bargello, the Medici Chapels, Orsanmichele Museum, Palazzo Davanzati, Archaeological Museum, Opificio delle Pietre Dure, and the Medici Villa in Cerreto Guidi.

Special afternoon openings, on the other hand, are scheduled for: the San Marco Museum, the Archaeological Museum, Andrea del Sarto’s Last Supper, the Basilica of Santa Croce (September 26 and 27), and the Romano Foundation.

The schedule of guided tours is particularly extensive on both September 26 and 27 and will also take place at other cultural sites, such as several libraries (the Laurentian, the National Central, the Riccardiana, and the Marucelliana), the State Archives, the Medici Villas of Petraia and Poggio a Caiano, and the Primo Conti Museum.
