ROTTA - SALA D'ARME

Route - Giuseppe Lo Schiavo

Exhibitions

Until 29 March, the Sala d’Arme of Palazzo Vecchio in Florence hosts Rotta by Giuseppe Lo Schiavo, a new site-specific project that interweaves contemporary language with a historic space, ritual and technology, protest and poetry.

Both a performative event and an exhibition, the project transforms the space into an immersive device where image, sound, and sculpture are experienced in a dynamic and participatory way.

The central theme of the exhibition-installation is the Mediterranean—a sea of civilizations and exchanges, but also a liquid border and a stage of absences, a place where history intersects with current events and where collective memory confronts loss every day.

Giuseppe Lo Schiavo, also known as GLOS, is a visual artist and researcher active between Milan and London, whose work moves across technology, science, and art history.

Originating from a powerful performative action carried out in the open sea, Rotta transforms one of the city’s symbolic spaces into a place of listening and shared responsibility. The project reflects on the Mediterranean—a sea of civilizations and exchanges, but also a liquid border and a stage of absences, where history intertwines with current events and where collective memory confronts loss every day.
