Hugo Suissas at Museo degli Innocenti

Exhibitions

From June 19 to September 13, 2026, the Museo degli Innocenti will host a new temporary exhibition dedicated to Hugo Suissas, an artist from Lisbon and one of the most compelling figures in contemporary international photography. Renowned for his images created through the use of forced perspective, Suissas has gained a wide audience thanks to the viral spread of his works on social media.

Self-taught artist, he has developed over time an instantly recognizable visual language, capable of transforming everyday objects, urban architecture, and landscapes into surprising and poetic compositions. At the heart of his artistic practice lies a principle that is both simple and profound: reality is not immutable, but changes according to the point of view from which it is observed.

The exhibition features more than 50 works, including iconic images and new productions, offering visitors the opportunity to discover not only the artist’s work but also the creative process behind it. The exhibition invites reflection on the relationship between perception, imagination, and reality, placing Suissas’s works in dialogue with the historic spaces of the museum.

Particular attention is devoted to the artist’s working method, which is based on research, observation, and the careful construction of each individual scene. Through a rigorous yet poetic use of perspective, Suissas creates optical illusions that do more than simply amaze viewers; they encourage them to question the way they observe and interpret images.

The exhibition continues at the Mercato Centrale Firenze with its official off-site presentation, further expanding the dialogue between Hugo Suissas’s work and the city of Florence.
