A new Home for the Casamonti Collection

On Monday, September 28, 2026, the new home of the Casamonti Collection —a leading Florentine museum dedicated to contemporary art — will open to the public. Having moved from its previous location (Piazza Santa Trinita), the new exhibition space is on Lungarno Serristori, in the Oltrarno district: Palazzo Giorgio, the former stables of Palazzo Serristori, with its unmistakable ochre-red façade.

Unlike the previous location, where the spaces dictated rotating exhibitions, the art collection is now presented in its entirety: a journey through Italian and international art from the 19th century to the present day.

In the 28 rooms, spread across two levels of the building, visitors can now admire approximately 250 works by various masters of Italian and international art, spanning from the late 19th century to the present day. The major artistic movements of this long period—the historical international avant-gardes, Futurism, Cubism, Metaphysical painting, and Abstract art, as well as Informal Art, Spatialism, Arte Povera, Pop Art, Graffiti Art, and the Transavantgarde—are represented by works from renowned artists such as Giovanni Boldini, Giacomo Balla, Giorgio de Chirico, Pablo Picasso, Wassily Kandinsky, Salvador Dalí, Max Ernst, René Magritte, Lucio Fontana, Alberto Burri, Piero Manzoni, Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, Bill Viola, Marina Abramović, Anselm Kiefer, Anish Kapoor, and Maurizio Cattelan.

Commissioned by collector Roberto Casamonti, this collection is a must-see stop on any tour exploring contemporary art in Florence.
